Information flow

Shannon-Weaver Communication Model (Middleton, 2002)

The information flow can be explained by applying Shannon–Weaver communication model to all forms of communication.

The following table shows the details of each element in the model:

The basic concept of Shannon-Weaver communication model is that the sender first initiates the transmission process by using encoder (e.g. telephone) to transmit message through channel (e.g. cable). There may be Noise in between since the background may be noisy which makes the receiver finds it difficult to listen what the sender says. Receiver receives message by using decoder (e.g. telephone).

Five Rings of Information(Wurman, 2002)

“We are all surrounded by information that operates at varying immediacy to our lives” - Wurman.

As what Wurman said, information exists everywhere and it coexists in the world.
