Information search

Information Acquisition

According to Wilson’s theory (1981), information seeking behavior may be affected by some barriers which is mentioned in “information need” part, the behavior would be:

  • Starting

  • Chaining

  • Browsing

  • Differentiating

  • Extracting

  • Verifying

  • Ending

Meanwhile, Kuhlthau suggests that there are 3 main aspects involved in the information searching process, namely: Feelings (affective), Thoughts (cognitive), and Actions (physical) (Kuhlthau, 2004). There are different feelings at different stages, such as:

  • Initiation

  • Selection

  • Exploration

  • Formulation

  • Collection

  • Presentation
