Information Needs
Information need can be driven by things like family, work or school, which require users to seek for new ideas. For example, a director may need some information to help him get some ideas in his movie; an elderly may wish to watch some old movies since there are too many memories in them. Hence, there are different information needs for different user groups.
According to Taylor’s theory (1968), According to Taylor, information need has four levels:

When users come across questions or problems that they do not know the solution, their mental awareness will first encourage them to find the answer in a quick and direct way. These ways are identified as the “bridge” to fulfill the information gap and reach user’s outcome.
